Associate Professorship in Environmental Metagenomics (or eDNA analysis), Aarhus University, Denmark 897299
The Department of Bioscience, Aarhus University (http://bios.au.dk/en/, Denmark, invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in Environmental Metagenomics (or eDNA analysis) starting October 1, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The emerging field of environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis provides great potential applications in ecological and evolutionary research as well as making a major contribution to environmental and conservation biological monitoring. We seek a researcher with an internationally excellent academic track-record based on eDNA analysis. The role requires an established strong publication record, documented skills in attracting external funding and experience with international research collaboration. Documented experience with analysis of eDNA, both at the molecular level including Next Generation Sequencing and at the level of bioinformatics and statistical analysis, is required. Furthermore, experience with teaching and supervision, good collaborative and communicative skills are important for the role.
The candidate will become a member of the Section for Genetics, Ecology and Evolution of the Department of Bioscience, Aarhus University, and should contribute to the section's scientific environment and teaching. Moreover, it is expected that the candidate will establish and contribute to collaboration across the Department of Bioscience in order to unfold the major potential for integrating eDNA analysis in multidisciplinary work.

The position will be based at Ny Munkegade 116, 8000 Aarhus C, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments. A non-Danish candidate is expected to be able to teach in Danish on undergraduate courses within a 3-5 year timeframe.

Short-listing is used. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
