Plant and Insect Ecology

The section conducts research in the terrestrial environment, focusing on living conditions of plants and insects. We study the effects of farming on nature and the environment in Denmark, the tropics and elsewhere (eg cridical loads and PestNab). Our research benefits production, nature and the environment by optimizing the use of nature-based services from the ecosystems, e.g. biological pest control, pollination and carbon sequestration.

By using models and collecting field data, we study how the climatenatural succession, addition of nutrients and nature conservation impact and affect natural habitats and plant populations. The goal of our research is to determine the ecological cause-effect relationships and make quantitative predictions.
