Ecotoxicology

The ecotoxicological research group addresses the impact of endocrine disruptors and nanoparticles in invertebrates and vertebrates, with most studies conducted on fish. The targeted endpoints include all levels of biological organization from molecular events to population level effects. Studies on endocrine disruptors mainly focus on their effects on fish reproduction, from development of gametes to disturbances of sexual behavior and reproductive output. The nanotoxicological research addresses the uptake, distribution and deleterious effects of silver, iron and gold nanoparticles in fish and mice. Behavioral analyses are included in most studies, given that we have a long tradition for developing automated vision systems for unbiased quantification of animal behavior, including complex behavior patterns.
