Fruit flies help in the development of personalised medicine

It is common knowledge that there is a connection between our genes and the risk of developing certain diseases. In a study on fruit flies, researchers from Aarhus University and Aalborg University have found that gene mapping can also be used to predict response to a given treatment.

Novel method uses drones to weigh whales

AIAS fellow Fredrik Christiansen and collaborators have devised a way to accurately estimate the weight of free-living whales by using only aerial images taken by drones. The method is presented in the British Ecological Journal Methods in Ecology and Evolution.
